Give customers what they want. |
Your customers want to save time, get organized, and reduce their IT costs and risks. Windows Server 2008 R2 is an advanced server operating system with built-in virtualization capabilities for increased reliability and security. New features include:
Enhanced virtualization
Windows Server 2008 R2 has the much-anticipated update to Microsoft® Hyper-VTM virtualization technology. The new Hyper-V was designed both to augment existing virtual machine management as well as to address specific IT challenges, especially around server migration. Live migration, Hyper-V support for up to 64 logical processors, and Cluster Shared Volumes (CSV) provide more simplified systems management and more scalable virtualization scenarios.
Anywhere access For today’s mobile workforce, managing remote computers is an ongoing challenge, with low wide area network (WAN) bandwidth and sporadic connection and reconnection processes interfering with lengthier desktop management tasks. Windows Server 2008 R2 introduces new features including DirectAccessTM, BranchCacheTM, and Remote Desktop Services to help organizations of all sizes increase availability and flexibility of resources.
Better power management
Windows Server 2008 R2 provides incremental and evolutionary improvements to server power management in several key areas that take advantage of the new hardware technologies and capabilities offered by Dell 11th generation servers. The Dell Energy Smart architecture and Windows Server 2008 R2 together provide hardware- and software-enabled reporting and control mechanisms that allow customers to more accurately size infrastructures, monitor consumption, and react appropriately to control energy consumption.
|
The right solution, right now and into the future. |
Windows Server 2008 R2 solutions are designed to fit your customers’ needs and work seamlessly with Windows® 7, providing them with improved benefits when they run both operating systems together.
DirectAccess support in both provides a powerful way for remote users to seamlessly access corporate resources without requiring a traditional virtual private network (VPN) connection and client software. And BranchCache is a powerful new content access solution for remote and branch offices that can save businesses time and money through decreased bandwidth needs.
